The Fine Art Society Auction

The first auction of the year to include photographic lots is Sotheby’s The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street – a commemorative auction celebrating Sotheby’s history at London’s infamous address. The Fine Art Society auction includes four photographic lots with estimates ranging from £500 to £6,000.

Two prints from Herbert George Ponting are included in the sale: A Dog Team Resting By An Iceberg (featured) and Midnight in The Antarctic Summer. A collection of 39 prints from London’s Great Exhibition circa 1851 make up lot 214, with an estimate of just £500 to £800, showing various statues and artworks that featured within the exhibition. Gluck by Howard Coster makes up the final photographic lot with an estimate of £4,000 to £6,000.
