Tajan Photographs Auction

French auction house Tajan, is hosting an auction of 190 photographic lots tomorrow (25th April) at its headquarters in Paris, and online.

‘From daguerreotypes to contemporary prints’ there is a selection of colour and black and white photographs from artists such as Nadar, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Brassai, Willy Ronis, Eugene Atget, Lucien Clergue, Robert Mapplethorpe, Adel Abdessemed, Nick Brandt, Ray Man, Willy Rizzo, Pierre Molinier, and Georges Rousse.

The auction provides buyers with the opportunity to acquire rare prints including ‘a large number of portraits like that of Johnny Halliday, Mireille Darc, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin by Roger Picard, Francoise Hardy, Juliette Greco or Catherine Deneuve in Chanel by Sharokh Hatami; Henri de Montherlant, Salvador Dali or Jean Genet by Brassai, Stalin by Margaret Bourke White, Pablo Picasso by André Villers, Jean Degottex and Alberto Moravia by Keichi Tahara Francis Bacon by Bruce Bernard, Keith Haring by Patrick Sarfati, Charles de Gaulle by Philippe D ‘Argentié, but also views of Paris, Rome, a set around bullfighting by Isabelle Munoz, vintage prints before retouches for the first Aubade campaign by Bernard Matussière …’

The auction will commence at 2:30pm (local time), with estimates ranging from as low as €200 to €20,000.

Lots include Nick Brandt’s Crater Lioness, Ngorongoro Crater, 2000 (featured, and above) which has an estimate of €15,000-€20,000, and Adel Abdessemed’s Sept Frères, 2006, from an edition of 7 and has an estimate of €8,000-€10,000.
