Sotheby’s To Live With Art Auction Results
This week saw Sotheby’s auction lots from the collection of Jerome and Ellen Stern, which included over 150 lots of sculpture, drawings, paintings and photography. Photographs included work by Andy Warhol, Thomas Struth and Andreas Gursky with estimates ranging from $1,000 to $70,000.
The auction came to a close on Monday in New York with a sales total of $2,419,125. The most expensive photography sales at the auction are as follows:
Selling for $112,500 Nobuyoshi Araki’s Selected Images From Colorscapes (partly featured) was the most expensive photographic lot, outperforming its original estimate of $50,000 – $70,000.
The second most expensive photographic lot was tied between Thomas Struth’s Paradise 7, Daintree, Australia, 1998, and Zhang Huan’s Family Tree, both of which had estimates of $40,000-$60,000, and both of which realised a hammer price of $106,250, respectively.
