Sotheby’s Jacques Grange Collectionneur Auction Results

Last week saw Sotheby’s Jacques Grange Collectionneur Auction reach a sales total of 28,387,150 Euros.

The French interior designer’s collection went up to auction on 21st November in Paris with photographs, paintings, sculptures, and items of furniture available. Photographs included work by Hiroshi Sugimoto, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Annie Leibovitz, and Peter Beard. With 177 lots available to bid on, 96% of these were sold with 86% surpassing their pre-sale high estimates.

The most expensive photograph to sell at the auction was Hiroshi Sugimoto’s Black Sea, Ozuluce, 1991 which sold for 417,000 Euros, 117,000 Euros above its top estimate of 300,000 Euros. Irving Penn’s portrait of Picasso sold for 200,000 EUR far exceeding its estimate of 50,000-70,000 EUR.
