Sotheby’s Erotic: Passion & Desire Auction Results

On the 15th February, Sotheby’s held an auction of erotic art in London. In the auction were several photographic works from artists such as Man Ray, Robert Mapplethorpe and Richard Avedon. The auction came to a close with a sales total of  £3,712,750 ($5,212,852 €4,180,707). The highest selling photography lot was She’s Light (laser 3) by Chris Levine, with an estimate of £60,000-£80,000 and selling for £75,000.

Natasha and The Serpent by Richard Avedon (featured) was the second most expensive photography lot, selling for £62,500 with an estimate of £50,000-£70,000, and Gunter Sachs’ Scot, 1995 sold for £40,000, almost three times its top estimate of £15,000.
