Man Ray et Les Surrealists auction results
Christie’s kicked off the photography auction calendar earlier than usual with a sale of photographs by Man Ray from the collection of Lucien and Edmonde Treillard. 118 photographic lots were on offer with estimates ranging from €2,000 to €100,000 bringing in a sales total of €5,933,875.
The most expensive photographic sale was Erotique Collie, which had an original estimate of €50,000 to €60,000 but outperformed its top estimate by over two hundred thousand euros at €312,500. The second highest hammer price also outperformed its original estimate of €50,000 to €70,000 by gaining a price tag of €187,500 for Les doigts d’amour de Main Ray, la ligne, la couleur, la forme, l’espace, l’air. Man Ray’s ‘Obligation pour la roulette de Monte Carlo’ image came in third by selling for €81,250 with an initial estimate of €20,000 to €30,000.
