Contemporary Mixed-Media Auctions Results
At the end of November there was a flurry of mixed-media auctions concerning contemporary art with numerous photographic lots. Here is a quick recap of some of those auctions:
Contemporary Curated was hosted by Sothebys with a number of lots from photographers including Olafur Eliasson whose The Domadalur Daylight Series (south) sold for £75,000 and Ed Ruscha whose Rooftops sold for £10,000. View the lots in this auction here.
Contemporary Art Online (also from Sotheby’s) brought together affordable works by contemporary artists such as Russell Young whose Elvis Presley in Original Colourway, which outperformed its top estimate of £6,000 for £7,500.
Christie’s hosted Post-War & Contemporary Art, which offered 28 photographs in the sale. Shutterspeed Piece – Konrad Fisher’s Gallery I by Jan Dibbets was the most expensive photograph with an estimate of €25,000 to €35,000 but a hammer price of €68,750. Nudes fe 02 by Thomas Ruff also outperformed its original estimate of €12,000-€18,000 by selling for €32,500. View all photographic lots from this sale here.
