Christie’s Stripped Bare Auction Results, November 2017
Yesterday saw the auction of photographs from the Collection of Thomas Koerfer, which took place in Paris, coinciding with the annual photography festival; Paris Photo.
There were 51 lots available in the auction, which realised a total of EUR 3,782,500 in sales.
The most expensive lot to sell at the auction was a record EUR 2,688,750 for Man Ray’s Noire et Blanche, 1926 – the second Man Ray photograph to enter the Most Expensive list this year, and the highest priced photograph to sell at auction all year. It is a world record for the artist, whose previous world record was set 6 months prior, at Christie’s New York. The original estimate for this lot was 1,000,000 – 1,5000,000 euros.
Diane Arbus’s Identical twins, Roselle, N.J, 1966 was the second highest paid bid at EUR 547,500 with an original estimate of 400,000-600,000 euros.
