Christie’s Photographs Auction; 2018

It is the first major Photography auction of the year taking place this week on Friday 6th April at Christie’s New York.

Highlighted lots from this Photographs auction include Richard Avedon’s Dovima with Elephants (lot 115) with an estimate of $300,000 – $500,000, Peter Beard’s Lioness and Birds with an estimate of $200,000 – $300,000, and Ansel Adams’ Aspens, Northern New Mexico with an estimate of $150,000 – $250,000.

Other photographers whose works are on offer in this auction include Robert Mapplethorpe, Edward Weston, Irving Penn, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Man Ray, August Sander and Alec Soth. Estimates range from $2,000 to $500,000.
