Christie’s Photographies Auction
Christie’s Photographies auction takes place in Paris on Thursday 8th November with 104 lots on sale from artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Irving Penn, Marina Abramovic, and Alfred Stieglitz. As well as classic black and white prints there is also a large range of colour photographs available as part of this auction from contemporary artists such as Anja Niemi and Richard Learoyd.
Richard Avedon’s portrait of Francis Bacon is the lot with the highest estimate ranging from 70,000-90,000 EUR ($83,000-110,000), followed by an Irving Penn print (Three Asaro Mudmen – featured) for 50,000-70,000 EUR ($56,933-$79,706), and Km 0,250, Modena a collection of prints by Luigi Ghirri with an estimate of 50,000 to 70,000 ($56,933-$79,706).
