Christie’s Bill Brandt & Garry Winogrand Auction Results
Christie’s hosted the first photography auctions of this year with two online auctions. Both auctions sold photographs from the MoMA collection by British photographer Bill Brandt and American photographer Garry Winogrand.
The MoMA: Bill Brandt auction brought the highest selling photograph of the month with a price realisation of $35,000 for Brandt’s Jean Arp, 1960 – a close-up eye portrait, printed on gelatin silver paper with an original estimate of $5,000-$7,000. The MoMA: Garry Winogrand auction brought in a sales total of $186,875 with Winogrand’s World’s Fair, New York City, from Women are Beautiful, 1964 as the highest selling photo of the auction. The gelatin silver print sold for $16,250, with an original estimate of $4,000 – $6,000. View Christie’s auction results list here.
