An American Journey Auction Results

Christie’s completed October’s slew of photography auctions with two photo-themed auctions taking place in New York City. An American Journey took place over two days, hosting ‘masterworks’ from the collection of Diann G. And Thomas A. Mann. Realising a sales total of $3,427,500 the auction sold work from artists such Edward Weston, Walker Evans, Irving Penn, Ansel Adams and Dorothea Lange.

The most expensive price tag went to Alfred Stieglitz’s The Terminal, New York, 1893 – a photogravure on tissue – which had an original estimate of $150,000-$250,000 and sold for $225,000. Pepper No. 30, 1930 by Edward Weston was the second most expensive lot selling for $187,500 with an original estimate of $150,000-$250,000. Dorothea Lange’s White Angel Bread Line, San Francisco, 1933 sold for $175,000 with an original estimate of $100,000-$150,000.
