Sotheby’s Now! Auction Results, February 2018
Yesterday Sotheby’s held it’s fourth NOW! auction, which focuses on ‘high-quality art at accessible prices’. Photographic lots were available from artists such as Erwin Olaf, Robert Mapplethorpe and Bill Henson, with estimates ranging from €600 to €15,000.
The auction brought in a combined sales total of €1,790,592, with the highest price tag for a photographic piece going to Gunter Sachs’ Hommage à Warhol, 1991 (featured) which sold for €30,000 midway between its bottom and top estimate of €25,000 – €35,000 (view lot details here).
Nan Goldin’s Greer and Robert on the bed, NYC, 1982 outperformed its top estimate of €12,000 by selling for €23,750, becoming the second most successful photograph to sell at the auction (view lot details here).
Richard Prince‘s Untitled (cloud gang study) also surpassed expectations by selling for over double the top estimate of €7,000 with a hammer price of €16,250 (view lot details here).
