Chris Levine: Be Light Results
Something of a last minute announcement, the Chris Levine: Be Light auction brought together six of Levine’s most famous installation pieces for a sale at Sotheby’s over the course of twelve days.
The auction sold all six lots with a sales total of £248,125.
The highest priced photographic sale was Lightness of Being, 2018 a official portrait of the Queen [featured]. The piece was estimated to sell for £70,000-£100,000 and saw a hammer price of £75,000.
The second highest priced photograph was Banksy [3D], 2017 a rear hooded portrait of the famed activist artist. The lot sold for £35,000 after an initial estimate of £3,000-£5,000 out performing its top estimate by seven times.
The third most expensive lot was Kate Moss She’s Light (Dots), 2013 which had an initial estimate of £20,000-£30,000 and sold squarely for £25,000.
