Christie’s week-long online auction of photographs representing New York came to a close on Thursday with a combined total of $76,375.

The auction brought together affordable lots from artists such as Weegee, Helen Levitt and Diane Arbus, to name a few. Estimates ranged from $3,000 to $8,000 with 8 days of online bidding.

The most expensive lot was Helen Levitt’s New York Woman with Taxi, 1982, which was estimated to sell for $4,000-$6,000 and saw a hammer price of $8,750. Weegee’s Party, Jukebox, 1940’s was the second most expensive, just edging out its top estimate of $5,000 with a sales price of $5,625. Coming in third was another Helen Levitt photograph, this time New York (Children with broken mirror), which sold for $5,625 after being estimated to sell for $4,000-$6,000.
