New York, New York
A few weeks ago Christie’s announced it would be holding an online auction of photographs portraying New York taking place between 16th to 24th of July. Unfortunately the auction’s page was inaccessible until now. If you’re looking to pick up some affordable photographic prints now is your chance.
New York, New York is a online auction of 34 photographic lots from artist such as William Klein, Bernice Abbott, Diane Arbus, Weegee and Helen Levitt, all capturing New York. Estimates range from $3,000 to $8,000 with Christie’s noting:
“The photographs in this online-only auction uncover the character of the inimitably modern New York City, primarily during and just after World War II.
The vast majority of photographs included in this sale were taken by Louis Faurer and Helen Levitt.
Also included in the auction are works by Berenice Abbott, Diane Arbus, William Klein and Weegee, all artists who tended towards bold, arresting views of New York’s sights and culture during the middle of the 20th century.”
