The Photography At Auction Digest

Looking back at the year’s photography auctions, several interesting themes were revealed such as Christie’s holding the highest number of photography auctions this year, with 12 sales under their belt, yet Phillips had the highest combined sales total and highest sell-through rates. As with previous years, 2018 proved that it is still a man’s world in photography, with the majority of sales and consignments attributed to male photographers. In some small comfort, however, Diane Arbus entered the top 50 Most Expensive Photographs Sold at Auction list this year, as only the second female photographer to do so.
